‘For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in Him should all the fullness dwell ’ ‘for in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. That fullness is found in Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Eternal God. The desire is of Him that it may lead to Him, the fullness and fulfillment of that desire. In the preface of the book, White suggests that “It is God’s design that this longing of the human heart should lead to the One who alone is able to satisfy it. White maintains, that the human shall seek the best things in the world and find them to the eternal blessing of his soul. According to the author, there is an ineffable desire, in the hearts of all mankind, for something they do not now possess and this desire is implanted in the very constitution of man by the merciful God. We also clearly see God’s love for us when we repent and ask His forgiveness. In the book “The Desire of Ages”, the author appeals to man’s desire for God, in spite of his race, sex, color, etc, and the reader is taken to new levels of experience in his search for God. We clearly see how awful sin (our addiction) is when we are drawn to God. We want Him as our Savior but not as Lord of our lives. Many have chosen to accept Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. Sin changes our habits and hearts to desire the lifestyle we need so desperately to leave. Sin makes us less willing to receive the Holy Spirit. Delaying keeps us from receiving the love of God. Every time we delay is an opportunity to have our hearts hardened. Delaying our decision to come to Him only leads to more of the old life. A lot of the time we want to blame others for the condition we are in. The next step is to talk to God about it and ask for His mercy. The opening of our eyes to the fact that sin has caused our shame and our desire to mask the pain. We need to sense our need of a Savior to come to Him. Christ died to take away our sins and change our lives to be more like Him. It is our choice to receive this gift but we can reject the idea if we so chose. This affects conscience and opens up the door to true repentance. Our minds (and hearts!) are touched and we see sin for what it really is. The Bible teaches that the Spirit of Christ leads us to repent and receive a pardon from God. We need to come to Christ with our heavily laden hearts. They mistakenly believe that repentance opens up the way to forgiveness. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t understand repentance. This awakening is caused by the Holy Spirit touching our hearts helping us to recognize our problem. The need for repentance occurs following an awakening in our conscience.
