![]() ![]() Numeroff’s books in the If You Give… series were written over three decades and were all illustrated by Felicia Bond. ![]() She both wrote and illustrated her next few books, including Phoebe Dexter Has Harriet Peterson’s Sniffles (1977) and Walter (1978). The book she created for that class, Amy for Short, was published shortly thereafter in 1976. Just before graduation she discovered a class in writing and illustrating children’s books. While there, she decided that she did not like fashion design and took classes in photography and animation. When she was a teenager, however, she decided to become a fashion designer and subsequently attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. ![]() Numeroff was an avid reader from an early age, and she also enjoyed writing stories. ![]() Her father was an artist for a newspaper, and her mother was a teacher. Laura Joffe Numeroff was born on July 14, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York. She was known for the If You Give… series of picture books that began with If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (1985). American children’s author and illustrator Laura Numeroff wrote more than 40 books during her long career. ![]()
